Creating Merchant Profiles

Beyond guiding or enforcing the usage of certain online suppliers, BlueBean also offers the possibility for card administrators to create merchant profiles for In-Store usage.

Merchant profiles allow admins to restrict the usage of certain suppliers by selecting a number or range of Merchant Category Codes (MCC). Merchant Profiles can be directly attached to a user in which case all cards issued to that user will inherit the MCC restrictions or attached a card level.

To create a Merchant Profile, go to the Merchant Profile under the Suppliers menu under controls and click “Add merchant profile”. Enter a merchant profile name for your merchant profile and select the Merchant Category Codes you wish to allow for that particular profile.

Note that issuers may have different restrictions as to the number of MCCs you can add to a profile. To learn more about issuer restrictions click here.

To add a Merchant Profile to a user, go to User Management and edit the profile and simply select the merchant profile you wish to apply. If the user already has cards issued and you wish to apply the profile to these just tick “Update all mobile cards with these merchants”. Else only new issued cards with mobile capabilities will be affected.

Note that merchant profiles on mobile budget cards will also affect the usage of the card online and similarly restrict merchants.
